It is really nice to meet you.

My name is Lori Woodard. I work under the name Blue Hummingbird Designs.

Thank you for viewing my website. I hope you find bits of pieces that might inspire you, encourage you or just a little something that makes you happy.

Who am I?

I am a mom, a mimi and a wife for more than half my life. My husband and I have two grown sons. Miles and his wife have two kids (a boy and a girl) and another on the way! Tyler just finished his degree and is ready to embark upon his journey. We live with two dogs - Cady (Katy) and Felon the pitbull (yikes I thought at first but found out pitbulls are big babies).

I have worn many hats.

My careers have consisted of selling products and services, project managing, and estimating a whole lot of material for commercial projects. I have an Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering and a Bachelor of Science Degree.

My Passion

For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed using my hands to create or build items. I am fascinated with finding just the right piece that fits to make everything work as a whole. I first took a summer class for surface pattern design a couple of years ago. I am so intrigued by Surface Pattern Design, the color, the motifs and the different repeats. I struggle with being a perfectionist which hinders me in putting my designs out into the world. But as I read a message from a fellow artist  - “no one is ever going to see them if you keep them to yourself in fear of someone not liking them”. So here I begin this journey.

I find inspiration in just about everything this world has to offer, from nature with all the animals, trees and flowers to magnificent places with breathtaking views, captivating people, and glimpses into various cultures.

The medium that I use consist of traditional and digital methods. My work is a mixture of the world around me. My hope is that my work will give a little happiness to the world.

Thanks again for stopping by, drop me a note I would love to meet you! Until we see one another have a beautiful day!
